School

School is a place were people ideally go and receive an education. But at least in the modern world, it is a way to train obedient workers. For instance, as a child and teenager, you have to deal with peers or classes that you do not want to even deal with. It prioritizes getting high grades over learning. People who are 30 seconds late to class too many times or minorly misbehave have to go detention for an hour or two to receive punishment (I got detention 2 or 3 times times at school just going to class at the beginning of the day and being a few seconds late, I had to get one my detentions delayed since I had to go to an appointment that day which caused some conflict between my mom and detention teachers). School encourages to kill people's creativity since good grades matter above all else. If one student in class misbehaves, the entire class gets punished (a few kids in elementary school misbehaved one time and the entire class missed recess because of that). If you happen to have autism (even if you are considered extremely high functioning and have average or above average IQ) or have something like adhd, you will be segregated from peers in normal classes and be treated differently. You be infantilized and treated like you are retarded by your peers. You will be put into bs classes like learning center and be displaced from taking elective classes. Only way to get out is to get good grades which further teaches conformity.

Right after the end of high school in the US at least, students are pressured by their parents, teachers, or fellow peers to go take out student loans that are usually tens of thousands of dollars and can go over $100k if they go to an elite school or pursue an education at postgraduate school. If you happened to have grown up in an upper middle class area, many people in high school would take AP classes which are meant so that you do not have to do certain general eds in college if you pass AP exams. In my high school, there were no classes on real skills like workshop or cooking just more academic classes and AP courses. Education in colleges has become commercialized. I took a computer science class where you would be penalized if you programmed in a way that does not conform to ways that people hired at google code.
