"BTW I use Arch"

Arch Linux is a rolling-release Linux distribution for the "tech-savvy", mostly fedora-wearing weirdos.

People say it breaks all the time but I haven't run into any breakage. If you are a noob, it would be better to use EndeavourOS or CachyOS instead. Arch or Arch based is ideal for things where it is preferable to be on the leading edge like with having the latest hardware and up to date drivers for muh games. There is also the AUR which reduces the need for things like flatpak.

Other notable Arch distros include Parabola, SteamOS, and Artix
Artix

Arch GNU/Linux but without Systemd
Bloodborne

Bloodborne is a Action Japanese Role Playing Game which is one of the best fromsoftware alongside sekiro as one of their best games. It has good atmosphere, lore, fun aggressive fast pace combat system, interconnected world, cool armor, and cool weapons to use.
heading 1: Capitalism

Capitalism is an economic system that is about the aquisition of private property and how that there is a need for constant competition even if it is not necessary or beneficial. It is also akin to a religion because you have to believe that there is value in money and the economy and rich capitalists are often portrayed as little guys who were able to work hard to their success. It has created a culture where people need to constantly work in order to survive or else they will not be able to have shelter or to eat. People look down on people who do not work and live off of government welfare or disability money and also look down on homeless people. Many people do this because they feel that these types of people are not contributing to society and they deserve to work to live. You can see this mentality with the US republican party with them being for cutting social programs. It is just a more modern version of a jungle mindset. Capitalism also encourages things like artificial scarcity since people need to work in order to survive. Examples of this include burning or throwing away food supplies, understocking certain items to create more demand, intellectual "property" and drm.

For instance, nowadays if you buy a video game, it is often infected by drm and you are not outright owning the game but have a license to access which can be revoked at any time. Here is the eula of a sega game with denuvo on steam saying you have no right to ownership (source) and sega views all the characters and assets of the game as their property. In this case, the capitalist company that is distributing the game to other people still views the game as their property despite letting people install the game on their own machines. If people had drm free copies of their games, companies would be afraid that they would be losing profit since the ability to share the game is not restricted and they would not be able to monitor people's habits with what they do with their games. Many popular games are gratis to play live service games. These games often include microtransactions that enourage people especially children to spend a lot of money on these games rather than a one time purchase. It is much more profitable to have stuff like cometics or something in the game where you have to pay money to get an advantage over other players rather than just paying money once to get full access to a game.

People are taught from a young age to become worker drones. People are put on a path from birth to go to k-12 schooling, then college, and then work until old age. However retirement age keeps going up which makes it so a lot of people have to deal with perpetual slavery.

There are certain jobs that are pointless but many people still do them. For example, there are self checkout machines but there are still cashier jobs. Someone whose job is to bag groceries is useless since the cashier or customer can do it themselves. As we are seeing now with AI, it has started to replace many jobs. But since people are living in a system where they have to work to live, many of these pointless jobs are still around.

heading 1: Cloud
In technology, the cloud is basically the idea that you will store you files and data on some companies computer. There are some benefits like being able to remotely access files anywhere. However there are many drawbacks. It leads to a loss of privacy since those files are being stored on some companies servers. If the internet goes down, you cannot access files that are stored in the cloud. There are things like school chromebooks that will not work without connecting to the internet. Companies keep pushing the cloud so that they can survailance people more easily and in the case of entertainment, stop filthy software pirates. In the future, politicians may try to legislate that computers are not able to operate locally to stop terroists and people from pirating some companies intellectual "property".

heading 1: Copyright

Copyright is a legal idea which is a form of intellectual property that a person or company can have a monopoly over information or art during a certain period of time. It is basically a capitalist way of trying to equate intangible intellectual ideas to tangible property. Copyright also prevents people who were not involved in making an intellectual work from trying to reuse it, remix it, or improve upon the work. For instance, nintendo has sued many people who made fan games of various nintendo ips and even sued people who made switch emulators. Sony has shut down fan servers of a game called concord even though they have abandoned the game. Although there are plenty of video games that are not for sale anymore, major game companies have taken down sites that share these games with other people.

How bad is the scope of copyright?

Copyright lasts way too long for one. Copyright lasts for the author's lifetime plus 70 years after death. It is effectively indefinite. There is also the issue of how it is harder to seperate art and the person who created the art. What someone creates is tied to their identity. It is also mostly a global thing now despite being an anglo concept with how it is required for countries to have some form of copyright laws or else they may get fines from countries like the US or global organizations. Copyright can be used as a form of censorship like with how a creator of a movie can shut down any publications who critized the movie that they made. There is also the legal concept called moral rights that give copyright to any piece of work that would be considered an intellectual work. It makes malware like drm illegal to circumvent.

A big waste of time
heading 1: Denuvo

Denuvo is a DRM and big cancer for PC video games. Denuvo is bad for many reasons, for one it requires periodic online connection which is bad if your internet goes down which is basically money down the drain since you now cannot play it even though online dependency is not needed for single player games and is anti game preservation because of this. Denuvo requires tokens in order for restricted games to work and these tokens upload someone's computer username. cpu identifiers, OS identifiers, to denuvo servers. It is basically a form of spyware. Another reason why is that it limits the amount of operating systems it can be played on which can effect how many versions of proton compatibility layer can be used if playing a game made for windows on GNU/Linux. If it is installed on too many operating systems or you use too many proton versions for a game, you will get locked out of your game. It will also make game performance worse due to using many different forms obfuscation that is embedded into the game executable such as encryption, unique hardware based code paths, and virtualization. But because of this, it does make games difficult to crack. There have been games that have been cracked or had a denuvo-free version accidentally released or in the case of Metaphor Rephantazio had a demo that didn't include denuvo and drm got bypassed because of it, but game publishers still keep denvuo anyway because they are run by suits and captalists that are paranoid of piracy even if the game already got pirated. This punishes paying customers who legitimaley bought the game since they are restricted by the DRM. DO NOT ever buy a game with denuvo in it because it gets rid of game ownership and preservation of a game.

Denuvo increases the file size of the exe file of the game it is being laced onto. A game called Hifi Rush had denuvo removed recently and the exe file size went down from ~300 mb to ~20 kb source. And the file size of the demo of metaphor refantazio increased from ~40 mb to 400 mb source.

There have been times when denuvo activation servers have gone down. Here were two events where that happened, one in 2021 and one in 2024 with people not being able to play a game called Persona 5

The denuvo CEO said one time that it is hard for a gamer to see the benefit of denuvo. The developers of a Korean gooner game called Stellar Blade said that denuvo somehow improves the performance of the game. Denuvo open a discord server which got raided because almost no one likes denuvo. If you go on steam forums and complain about denuvo, they do shortcut thinking and will say along the line of how you just want to pirate the game and how the game company that is implementing denuvo into their game will go bankrupt despite how many games without drm sell very well.

There are retards who defend denuvo and corporate simps on steam forums saying that these game companies need to protect their "property". Well, intellectual "property" and digital software is not the same as physical property. When you sell a tangible item, you are giving up property like an apple to receive money for that apple and now the apple is now the customer's property. With having denuvo in the game, it is like having someone watch over your purchase of an apple to make sure you are not using it in the way the merchant wants or else they will take away the apple from you.

heading 1: Discord

Discord is a proprietary online communication platform where people join servers to talk to people on those servers. Discord also monitors everything you do on there and if you have the discord client installed to your computer, it will monitor those processes as well and show what game you are playing to other people. It is available on Windows, Mac, GNU/Linux, Android, and IOS. If you have ever attend k-12 schooling or university within the past 10 years and made friends there (and even sometimes with people you are forced to work with during school projects), they often try to pressure you into using discord even if you want to have nothing to do with it. I was introduced to Discord in middle school and never heard of it until a friend told me about it. And on that discord server, all they would do would be playing cancer such as fortnite. But it is better to not use discord and if you have ever used discord it is better to stop using it. You will meet some of the most degenerate people through discord. Furries are quite prominant on discord and even some furries work at discord.
heading 1: DRM

DRM which is mainly known as digital rights management but is more accurate to call digital restrictions management. It is used be many capitalists to restrict how people use the digital content they buy when it comes to games, music, movies, books, etc since they are afraid of piracy and people sharing around files of the content they distribute. It can be thought of as a form of digital handcuffs. DRM often works by requiring an online connection to view drm'd content even if the content of the files are installed locally on one's computer, requiring certain codecs, requiring certain web browsers, virtualization, hardware based encoding paths, make it difficult to make a backup copy etc. An example of DRM would be denuvo which requires periodic internet connection and makes the performance of a game worse. When it comes to viewing drm online content like with netflix, the video quality is somehow worse on GNU/Linux than on Windows or MacOS. It is also a form of software bloat since it is more code running on your computer that is not necessary. A notable person who opposes drm is Richard Stallman who thinks that DRM should be illegal which is quite based. Even Capitalists like Gabe Newell have said that strict drm is not necessary in games and can be a hinderance. There are movements such as Stop Killing Games and Defective by Design that are against DRM.

DRM can do quite nasty things on one's computer other than requiring internet like with the Sony rootkit scandal and how many DRM schemes tend to also be spyware. And one bad effect of DRM is that it basically gives you no ownership over the digital content you have bought and are reliant on some companies servers to make sure the drm is still authenticating your copy of the software you purchased. It may also prevent installation of software onto other devices without an account login like with steam drm or with digital games on game consoles.

Unfortunately, Bill Clinton signed the Digital Millennium Copyright Act which makes it illegal to circumvent DRM. But legality doesn't necessarily mean morality. For instance Jim Crow laws and racial segregation used to be legal in the US. It isn't necessarily an immoral thing to crack or circumvent a drm since it restricts how you use a piece of media or software.

Even outside entertainment like movies, video games, music, etc drm has extended to things like keurig coffee makers, light bulbs, printers, and John Deere trackers. In these cases they are implemented to prevent people from repairing the things they bought or try to make it so that someone's printer will not work unless they pay a subscription.

When implementing drm into software or even with hardware, it goes to show that the software developers and companies of software like games do not trust their userbase and think they would hurt their bottom line with there being a need to restrict them.

I have had a debate recently with a pro drm person. They were saying developers need to eat but I counter argued saying that I will not support developers that restrict me. He said that activation servers going down for a single player game is the same as when an mmo server goes down like those are comparable things. For one, an mmo relies on other people to play unlike a single player game where only one person is needed to play. I mentioned that the console version of Persona 5 doesn't need online check ins unlike the steam version in which he said consoles are for pirates which isn't true since ps5 and xbox series x have not been jailbroken yet. Plus persona 5 got cracked recently so denuvo drm is only harming paying customers. He wanted every game to have online check ins and anti cheat systems even if it is single player. Basically, pro drm people are not the brightest.

Fortnite is an online multiplayer game that is one of the most played games in the world. Just because something is popular doesn't necessarily mean that it isn't shit. For one, it has microtransactions and encourages people to spend money on an in game currency called vbucks which in the US at least can find gift cards for at the grocery store or at retail chains like walmart and target. This is bad for children since according to some article I read that 58% of kids ask for vbucks for christmas. There have been kids who steal their parents credit card just to spend money on vbucks and on skins. Apparentley, some 12 year old child in Japan decided to drop out of school to play fortnite and try to be a top streamer with his parents fully approving of it. Other than kids, retards can be prone to spend money on vbucks as well. This is retarded since it is a non tangible item and will not work unless you are connected to fortnite servers and will not work locally. It has online dependency and will not work offline. It has braindead gameplay that only appeals to zoomers and gen alpha with adhd. It has youtubers in it. It has kernel level anti cheat which will block wine and proton support which blocks unix compatibility.

I was in middle school when fortnite came out and pretty much everyone other than me was interested in this slop.

heading 1: Games

Video games is a form of interactive software where a person uses an input device such as a mouse and keyboard or gamepad to do something such as moving a character and perform actions such as attacking and selecting menu and dialogue choices. There are many different genres of video games such as First Person Shooter, Platformer, Fighting game, Sports game, Role Playing Game, Visual Novel, etc. Time management in a game can be turn based, real time based, or a mix of both.

A game can be single player or multiplayer. Single player often expects input from one player. However, some single player games can have a coop option where another person can play the game either online or locally. Multiplayer games often expect input from multiple players and can be either local or online. Competitive first person shooters, MMOs, and fighting games are examples of multiplayer games. Single player games tend to be more story based than a multiplayer game even if the story is minimal in cases like dark souls series or The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Multiplayer games usually do not have any type of story. There are games such as Persona series that place more of an emphasis on story.

It is a website that distribute drm-free versions of games. Unlike with Steam where games are not guaranteed to be DRM free, it is a requirement on gog. GOG also doesn't require to use their launcher unlike steam. This gives a benefit of having more ownership over a game and have the ability to make backup copies. However, gog has less of a selection of games compared to steam due to many game publishers being overparanoid about piracy and how overall steam is more popular than GOG.

Kiseki is a series of Japanese Role Playing Games with Anime artstyle developed by Nihon falcom that has games with an interconnected story between different game entries which is unlike most games where the story of the game is contained to one entry. These games have a lot of text in dialogue in them which makes it so that they take a long time to release in the West because of the long dialogue. Fun fact, one of the guys who localized sora no kiseki the second chapter considered suicide because of short deadlines and the amount of dialogue in the game to translate. Gameplay in the latest trails games are a mix between turn based and real time combat systems.
heading 1: Microtransaction

I didn't write this but it describes the topic well

Microtransaction, also microtheft, is the practice of selling -- for a relatively "low" price -- virtual goods in a virtual environment, especially games, by the owner of that environment. It's a popular business model of many capitalist games -- players are given an "option" (which they are pressured to take) to buy things such as skins and purely cosmetic items but also items giving an unfair advantage over other players (in-game currency, stronger weapons, faster leveling, ...). This exploit is often targeted at children, for them being easy victims to scams.

Not only don't they show you the source code they run on your computer, not only don't they even give you an offline independently playable copy of the game you paid for, not only do they spy on you, they also have the audacity to ask for more and more money after you've already paid for the thing that abuses you.

Nintendo is a Japanese video game Corporation that is known for making proprietary games such as Mario, Pokemon and Zelda alongside proprietary video game consoles such as the Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Wii, DS, Gameboy, etc. They are among many wealthy corporations who like to abuse intellectual "property" laws. For instance, they have sued and shut down nintendo console emulator projects for over two million dollars, tried to make renting games illegal which failed in the US but succeeded in Japan, made video game console modding illegal in Japan and even someone in Japan has been arrested and put in prison for 2 years because apparentely selling a modded console is going to make a capitalistic multinational and multibillion dollar company at risk of going bankrupt, taking down fan games and fan remakes (takedown notice) (despite nintendo doing this, you can still find these games from alternate sources that I will not link for legal reasons and nintendo believes a fan remake of an old game not for sale is going to make Nintendo loose all their net worth), and patenting game mechanics so no games can be too similar to their's in gameplay and prevent any potiental competition (this article by Richard Stallman goes into further detail on why software patents are bad). Nintendo was apart of many Millenials and Gen z childhood and it is known that many nintendo gamers tend to more adults than kids since kids nowadays are playing trash like fortnite and roblox. Nintendo Switch 1 and 2 are proprietary consoles and you have to agree to some eula which states you have a license to use the console and you do not own it and have the ability to shut them down for unauthorized use article link eula link. Never buy or support a nintendo product, you are only supporting restrictions, nintendo's anti consumer practices, and your own enslavement by doing so.

heading 1: Open Source

Open source is a movement that is forked from the free software movement. Unlike the free software movement, open source advocates do not place extreme emphasis on the ethical benefits of free software (like no drm, no spying, able to freely share, modifty, and redistribute software, etc) and place more emphasis on how efficient it is to develop open source software since it is more collaborative and it is easy to get free (as in beer) development from programming nerds. The term open source came to with how capitalists such as Eric Raymond, Larry Augustin, Christine Peterson, and Linus Torvalds were critical of the political and moral philosphy of free software. They met up somewhere in Palo Alto, California where Peterson came up with the word open source. The term open source was seen as more buisnness friendly due to the ambiguity of the English word "free". When many people say open source for a program that doesn't infringe upon their ability to share and modify a program and how it doesn't spy on them, what they mean is more the ethical ideas of free software.

Many open source advocates do not mind proprietary software (like how the Linux kernel contains firmware blobs) and stuff like drm. If you go on Linux Mint's website, they say that their OS is free and open source with their definition of free and open source being that it is free of cost and almost all of it's components are open source. There are GNU/Linux distros such as Bazzite whose main focus is not on freedom but mostly focused on gaming on steam and comes preinstalled with it. It is an immutable distro where the file system outside of the home directory cannot be changed and have to rely on bs like flatpak and makes the os more like Android. With people that work on open source projects, they use proprietary platforms such as discord and Github (which is owned by Microsoft and requires javascript). It is common for corporations to say that they love open source such as Microsoft <3 open source.

With the developers of the Heroic Games Launcher which is an open source client for GOG and Epic games, they will prevent people from launching drm free versions of GOG games if it cannot autheticate the license of the game. I don't know what the the point of it is since one of the main reasons why you would want to buy games on GOG is to have guaranteed offline access to games you paid for, but some open source soydevs think otherwise. When launching games bought through gog directly, they do not have license checks. Heroics only good use is downloading gog games and launching games purchased from their outside heroic since gog has no GNU/Linux client or just download the offline installers from gog's website. See this wine article where I explain how to use proton ge with umu launcher without any client or launcher. You can also use normal wine and install dxvk, vkd3d proton, and lav filters to wine prefix aswell.

heading 1: Piracy

Piracy when it comes to software refers to the copying and distributing of software that a copyright holder doesn't approve of. Copyright holders and defenders of ip law think it is a form of theft. People pirate for many reasons which include getting something for gratis, avoiding restrictive drm systems, the product is not easily available to buy like when it comes to retro video games, etc.

Is piracy a form of theft?

No. If I were to go to a store to steal a candy bar the store no longer has the candybar. If I were to circumvent a drm or copy restrictions of a game (assuming if the game has them) and share and distribute them to other people, then the developer and company of the game still has access to the original copy of the game and of the assets and source code too. With digital software, there is no scarcity with it and you have to create artifical scarcity like implementing drm or copy restrictions to make it scarce. People who think piracy is a form of theft are corporate bootlickers and are brainwashed by antipiracy propaganda saying you wouldn't steal a car. (~ronin - I have debated with someone about this topic before and the guy I was debating with was saying I am doing mental gymnastics while you have to do mental gymnastics to think you can steal software. He was some moralfag too saying that he won't pirate since the bible says not to steal even though it is not a form of theft as I mentioned earlier.)

heading 1: Proprietary

Proprietary means that someone or a corporation has ownership over something. When it comes to software, Proprietary software means that you often cannot redistribute a program, see the source code or make changes to the program, cannot make a detrivative of the software, and you have to use the software as outlined by a End User License Agreement or else access to that software could potientally be revoked with the worst outcome being that you get into legal trouble due to some corporation bullying you with the law. It can either be closed source or source available. Proprietary Software is often commercial and is "protected" by monopoly laws. This means that legally, there is an owner of the software that can restrict how one uses a proprietary program and they can do it with means such as DRM.

Examples of Proprietary Software include Windows, MacOS, most video games, steam, discord, adobe software, spotify, proprietary versions of chromium such as google chrome and Microsoft Edge, etc.

## Steam

Steam is a popular online gaming platform and client created by Valve for PC video games. A lot of people like to simp for steam and gaben online due to thinking that Valve is extremely pro consumer.

Is steam pro consumer?

Steam is a mix between good and bad. There are many games on steam (although some don't) that uses steam's copy restriction and makes it so that you cannot play those games without steam. Although you can circumvent that requirement with golderg emulator or goldberg emulator fork link. If drm is embedded in the executable file of the game, you could use a program called steamless (it is a legal gray area to break drm in software even for personal use since the dmca says it is illegal to break drm but it is legal to make backup copies of software you bought so use steamless and goldberg at your own risk). You cannot pass down or give your steam account to friends and relatives, and if the person you gave your account to told steam support about that, Valve will ban that account even if that account was apart of a will (link). There are games on steam that require third party launchers like Ubisoft launcher or Rockstar launcher and steam does allow third party drm like denuvo which further restricts how one plays the games they paid for. If steam was extremely pro consumer they would have banned those things. This is the equivalent of having to require someone to buy a chair with a table when all they want is a table. The Steam launcher is quite bloated and uses over 1 GB of ram when even firefox or foss game launchers like lutris uses less ram. Steam is based on chromium and receives the chromium bloat. If you do not have a debit or credit card, you can use Steam gift cards to pay for games. Steam has offline mode but will not work with denuvo restricted games but offline mode itself apparently can be unreliable and may stop working after 30 days. Steam created the proton compatibility layer which is a fork of a program called wine that allows windows games to run on GNU/Linux or other unixes like freebsd. Proton is free software and can be used without steam and there are forks like proton ge that are better used without steam than using normal proton to run non steam games since ge has codecs certain games need to play fmvs. It has additional features too such as wine wayland, sdl controller support if using a playstation or nintendo controller to play games, and hdr support.

Steam tracks and surveils what people do within the steam client and let's people know what games you are playing when launched through steam (you can set steam profile to private to not let random people see game activity but valve and people on your steam friendlist still knows your game activity). You cannot be fully anonymous on steam since steam requires full name, address, and phone number to purchase games (although in theory you could lie about those things). This is unlike phyical game copies where the game is stored on a medium such as a disc or cartridge where you could go to a retail store and pay anonymously in cash. Valve has a job posting about working as a data scientist. On the page they say, "One thing we have at Valve is data. Lots and lots of data". Steam uses psychological manipulative things to keep people on the steam platform. One thing is with achievements and recorded playtime with how people can compare these things to other people's playtime and achievements. If you look at the steam reviews of krita which is a free libre drawing program, people say that it is so convient to buy krita on steam since the windows version doesn't come with an updater (on GNU/Linux or BSD, you can just install and update with package managers preinstalled such as apt or pacman) and how they are supporting the developers even though steam takes a 30% cut and you can directly donate to krita developers on their website without even having to use steam and all money goes to them. And when buying on steam, you have to give valve your full name, address, and phone number to buy krita from them which makes it less convenient than just installing with a package manager.

Any alternative to Steam?

GOG is a good alternative to steam since all the games there are DRM-free and do not require internet or a launcher after installation. Epic games store is a worse version of steam. Ichi.io can also be a good alternative but is mainly dedicated for indie and smaller project games. Piracy or playing foss games is an option.

heading 1: Surveillance
Surveillance is when you monitor someone or a group of people through various means. You can surveil people through security cameras (such as cctvs) in public places. Spyware can be used to monitor what people do either on their computer or smartphone like with how proprietary oses such as Windows and MacOS monitor what their useds do on their PCs. Microsoft Recall which is apart of a program called Copilot which is included in new Windows 11 installs basically monitors and screen records what people do on their computers other than drm restricted media. A proprietary operating system is not the only thing that can spy, but proprietary applications can too. For instance, programs such as discord, spotify, google chome, firefox by default if not using arkenfox userjs files, even steam, and game consoles such as nintendo, xbox, and playstation when connected online (dualsense mic can listen in to you and send voice data to sony servers) monitor what people do within their applications. In the case of discord, it can even monitor processes on your computer and this is confirmed by the fact if you play a game (discord doesn't distribute games), it will broadcast that to other people.

After the event about the twin towers in New York on September 11, 2001, George Bush Jr. signed the Patriot act into US law which makes it legal for the government to legally tap and gather information on people's telephone and electronic information without a warrant. The patriot act got expanded with the CLOUD act which made it legal for the US government to compel American technology companies via a warrant or subpoena request data stored on servers regerdless if the data is stored on US or foreign soil. See anarchism to our solution to government.

During 2013, Edward Snowden exposed documents from the US governement that described government programs that survey and collect information on people. For example, PRISM was a government program with corporations such as Microsoft, Facebook, Apple, Google, and Yahoo collaborated with the US government to collect data on online services and data stored on these companies servers such as email, online conferences, vidoes, photos, online chat, etc. Apparentley, even low level NSA analysts were able to search and listen in to the communications of Americans and foreigners on US soil without any warrant. These analyst had the ability to read and listen to whatever email, telephone class, browsing histories, and Microsoft Word documents (use libreoffice writer or just use a text editor such as vim instead) that they had a hold of. However since Snowden leaked government info about the US government spying on people, he is considered by the US government to be a traitor and domestic terroist with him having to seek asylum in Russia.

heading 1: United States of America

The United States of America is a country that is located in the North American continent. So called land of the free is not really free since men from ages 18-25 are required to register for the draft to fight bs wars that wealthy politcians start that normal people have nothing to do with where people end up killing innocent people. For a long time, the main religion of the United States for a long time used to be Christianity but it has been slowly replaced with Capitalism and worship of money and economy. Americans have an obession over guns and nuclear weapons and proposing to nuke other countries. The United States itself has dropped nuclear bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Many Americans are overweight or obese due to eating a lot of junk food and heavy car reliance in many areas. Many places of spread apart even for going to recreational areas like parks which makes having a car a de facto necessity (you could theoritically bike and walk far but if you did it everyday, it would be exhausting). Cars cost a lot of money and are a depreciating asset with high cost of maintenence and oil (if using non electric car). There is no high speed rail or convenient public transportation because that would be communism.

Despite spending almost a trillion dollars on military, there is no universal health care despite the military being an evil organization of training people to kill other people. Many Americans worship the military and treat soliders as heros. At some K-12 schools in the US, they may have military soliders participate in assemblies saying how the military is protecting everyone and then have a military helicopter land on the sports field to show military's power. US has military bases not just in the US, but in other countries too. If you happen to live near a military base, you will hear the military testing bombs.

Despite the United States having a large homeless rate, the number of vacant homes outnumber the amount of homeless people. So thanks for capitalism being so efficient in distributing resources.
heading 1: Used

A used is a person who uses and is abused by either proprietary software or proprietary social media services such as facebook, instagram, and twitter. For instance, a used of a proprietary game such as a live service one is encouraged or bombarded with ads to spend money on microthefts which wastes a bunch of money and even these games have created who economies like in counterstrike where stuff like skins and knifes can go for thousands of dollars. With a lot of games, they may contain drm and many games are licensed rather than owned after purchase which makes it so you cannot lend a game to someone, install it to another computer, play it offline, etc. You cannot make a detrivative work of a proprietary game like a fan game without getting into potiental legal trouble. With a proprietary social media service, they often have algorithms that try to keep people on their platform as long as possible since they make a lot of money through ads and data collection with selling and sharing that data to other companies and possibly with government agencies.

heading 1: Vegetarianism

Vegetarianism is a diet that echews meat from one's diet but also includes animal products diary products, honey, and eggs. Veganism eschews both meat and animal products. Ronin who is writing this article is a lacto-evo vegetarian. Vegetarians can be subdivided into lacto-evo vegetarians (people who include eggs and diary into their diet), lact vegetarians(people whose only animal product they consume is diary), and evo vegetarians(people whose only animal product they consume is eggs).

Many people become vegetarians for ethical or religious reasons. Eastern religious such as Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jainism encourage or require people not to engage in meat consumption which relates to the philosphy of ahimsa of non violence. When you go to many Indian restraunts, it is quite easy to find vegetarian food. In 675, Emperor Temmu banned the consumption of meat in Japan. There are a few cities in India where meat consumption is banned entirely. Even with Christians, there are some who decide to become vegetarian. Leo Tolosky who was an Anarchist Christian pacifist became a vegetarian to avoid harming sentient beings. There is a quote from the bible which is Isaiah 11:6-9 which effectively says that wolves will live next to lambs and the cows will feed with the bear.

Ethical reasons to become a vegetarian include not having to kill animals in order to obtain food. An animal like a pig could live a happy life but if you want to eat something pork, then the life of that pig is gone. In the modern developed countries where food is abundant, there is little reasons to go out and hunt animals to go eat food. Many people who do this are rednecks who do this as a hobby. There are massive farms factories where chickens are put into small cages and pigs are put into small cubicles. Baby pigs at birth have their testicals ripped out and teeth removed without any anesthesia. The reason why they remove the pigs teeth is that they get high anxiety and depression by being in farm factories and the other pigs start biting the other pigs. These animals are put onto conveyor belts when they are killed and then processed into food. There is a website called animalclock.org that estimates how many animals are killed per year for food, and about ~50 billion animals have been killed in the US as of late November 2025.

There are environmental reasons to become a vegetarian or vegan. Feeding and giving water to livestock animals uses up a lot of resources, a lot of land area is used to raise livestock, and a lot of C02 emissions and trees are being cutdown due to raising livestock. There is also a lot of overfishing that goes on in the ocean which leads to decline wildlife and degraded ecosystems.

Is vegetarianism or veganism healthy?

Humans did evolve to be omnivores which means that people are naturally supposed to eat both plant food and meat. Veganism is worse for your health than vegetarianism due to not getting enough calcium and vitamin B12. It is easier to be healhier on a vegetarian diet than a vegan one since you can get calcium and vitamin b12 from eggs and diary products. I have had blood tests from the doctor and they say that I am healhy and I do not take any supplements. I have also been vegetarian(I was a vegan for a few years) for about 14 years and I am still alive. Soy products like tofu can be a good replacement for meat. It is better to choose vegetarianism or veganism for ethical reasons rather than health. Eating too much meat is probably more unhealthy than not eating meat at all. If you eat too much meat, it can raise blood pressure, raise cholesteral, and create issues with colon cancer and kidneys. I know some relatives that eat a lot of meat in every meal and they are fat but they do also happen to consume a lot of soda and regularly eat sweets and junk food.

Can being a vegetarian or vegan be inconvient?

It probably depends on what culture or country that you are brought up in. In the US at least, there is a big tradition of eating meat when it comes to eating with steaks, hamburgers, and turkey on Thanksgiving. If you go out with family or friends to some seafood or steakhouse restraunt, you basically cannot eat too many other things other than fries, colesaw, or any deserts if they have it. When going to many Indian, Sandwich shops, East Asian food like Vietnamese and non seafood Japanese restraunts, and Mexican restraunts it is quite easy to find some type of vegetarian option. If you have grown up in India or maybe a few different buddhist communities, it would be quite easy to be vegetarian.

Windows

Windows is a proprietary Operating System made by microsoft. Here are a list of reasons not to use it

-Extremely bloated with programs you do not want
-Spyware that data collects everything on your computer
-Online Account is required for Windows 11
-You have no control over it
-You have to install drivers for things while on a Unix based system, things are built into the kernel. If you are using an amd gpu, on windows you need to go to amd's website, agree to the TOS, then download the drivers, each driver update will show you ads for some shiity mainstream normie AAA game like Call of Duty. and maybe use DDU every update to make sure drivers work properly. On GNU/Linux, it is just plug and play.
    -Built in ads
-Forces you to have Edge web browser installed will try to convice you to stick to their browser if you install others and make their browser hard to uninstall
-You do not have access to the source code of windows
    -You cannot customize windows
-You are stuck with default windows UI
-There are auto updates and these updates can break things like breaking the firmware on your SSD or make performance worse
-Latest versions do not work on older computers
-Introduce bad things like UEFI and secure boot
-Will show you pop ups and why you should upgrade to latest spyware version of windows
-Most viruses target windows which makes anti-virus necessary
-You need a Windows license and it is $150 if you do not go on a sketchy key website

Why is windows the most used os? That is because it has been the default installed OS on most computers for a long time and most people do not like change. If this was not the case, barely anyone would use windows. Even if there are games or programs that are made for windows that you want to use, you can run them with wine or proton compatibility layers. By this, there is no need to use Windows. It is just for NPCS.

heading 1: Wine

Wine can refer to an alcoholic drink made out of grape juice or a computer program that is a windows compatibility layer to make it so windows programs run on a Unix system without the need of a dualboot setup or use of virtual machines. With the latter, you can think of wine as a replacement and reimplimentation of the Win32 api since that is what wine replicates. The acronym for wine stands for wine is not an emulator. Wine has less overhead compared to more traditional emulators like rpcs3 and sometimes running windows programs and games through wine can result in better performance than running them on Windows. When running windows programs through wine, they make use of unix drivers rather than windows ones. For example when running a game through wine with an amd gpu, it will make use of the mesa driver instead of the amd windows amd adrenaline driver.

Proton Section

Proton is a compatibility layer made by Valve and is a fork of wine. It also makes use of dxvk and vkd3d (can be used in normal wine) which translates direct x to vulkan since Unix systems do not have support for direct x since the api is proprietary to Microsoft. It has changed the landscape of GNU/Linux gaming. Before proton, it would be rare for AAA or even indie games to be playable on GNU/Linux. There are forks of proton such as proton ge that include more improvements to proton, includes codecs for fmvs, and is based on more bleeding edge versions of wine. The most user friendly way to use proton is with steam but you can use it without Steam such as with games not distributed on Steam, drm free games from both steam or gog, or cracked versions of games. It is nice being able to use proton outside of steam since it is a proprietary service and relies on having an online steam account. According to their TOS, they can take away your account or games licensed under your account at any time and you cannot share or pass down your steam account to friends or family,

The most user friendly way to use proton outside steam is with GUI launchers such as Lutris and Heroic games launcher
On arch based distros this is how you install either program
code segment

cachyos heroic install
code segment

For the version of wine, make sure Proton ge is selected and click plus icon to add game

You can use umu-launcher as a non gui way of using proton outside steam and can put a shell script next to the game's executable so you do not need to memorize proton commands every time you want to launch a game. I prefer this method since it is more minimalistic and I do not have to deal with a GUI launcher.

Installation of umu on arch based distros
code segment

create shell script of game executable (game should be replaced with exe file name)
code segment

make script executable
code segment

use a text editor such as kate, gedit, vim, emacs, or nano to edit script I will use vim as an example but kate or gedit would be easier to use
code segment

text to put into script
code segment

If you want to put a proton command put it in between protonpath and umu run. /PATH/TO/WINEPREFIX will be replaced with where you would want wineprefix to be
code segment

You can now double click the shell script or execute it from terminal and type
code segment
Now proton works without Steam or GUI launcher such as heroic or lutris
