Video games is a form of interactive software where a person uses an input device such as a mouse and keyboard or gamepad to do something such as moving a character and perform actions such as attacking and selecting menu and dialogue choices. There are many different genres of video games such as First Person Shooter, Platformer, Fighting game, Sports game, Role Playing Game, Visual Novel, etc. Time management in a game can be turn based, real time based, or a mix of both.
A game can be single player or multiplayer. Single player often expects input from one player. However, some single player games can have a coop option where another person can play the game either online or locally. Multiplayer games often expect input from multiple players and can be either local or online. Competitive first person shooters, MMOs, and fighting games are examples of multiplayer games. Single player games tend to be more story based than a multiplayer game even if the story is minimal in cases like dark souls series or The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Multiplayer games usually do not have any type of story. There are games such as Persona series that place more of an emphasis on story.
A game aiming for photo realistic graphics is pointless. The average person is not going to care how many pores on a character's face is path traced. What matters most is having a game that is aesthetically pleasing to look at. Just compare the old 2d Pokemon games to the new 3D ones on the Nintendo Switch. A game aiming to be as realistic as possible is like a water painting trying to look realistic. The aim for realistic graphics is only beneficial for GPU and console manufacturers to keep selling new hardware. If people were satisfied with how graphics are currently are or are willing to have more stylzed graphics in games (like many nintendo games, indies, JRPGS, etc), no one would need to buy the latest Nvidia Rtx xx90 GPU or PS7 Pro. This also creates more crunch and busywork for people who work at AAA game companies to perfect how realistic a game is. An example of this is Red Dead Redemption 2 with how everything in the game is so realistic due to the crunch and long work hours game devs had to endure. No one really cares to make Arthur go shave or go take a bath or how certain parts of a horse changes in certain weather conditions. People want to have a gameplay system that is fun and snappy.
