Expedition 33

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a french developed rpg (retards call it a jrpg despite not being japanese) that is one of the most astroturfed games ever. I have played the game myself. The combat is pressing the parry button and button for qtes (quick time events) to win, no real depth or strategy. The story and characters are mature but the facial animations seem uncanny. The game also has the pretentious millennial type of writing where the characters act annoying. I decided to drop the game after 10 hours of playing because of this. There is also only one male party member with 3 female party members so no bro/best friend type of characters or anything to balance out the female cast. There is a clunky optional platforming section at some beach area where you can get some swimsuit costume for Luna who is one of the party members in the game. You can tell when playing this game, this game has taken big influence from games like final fantasy, persona, nier, and from software games. Despite this, however, they have started to do trademark trolling with a french comic book series that is called clair obscur which is not too surprising since the main developers were from ubisoft (update, they stopped trying to cause legal issues with the comic series). The game will require a good pc to run since it uses unreal engine 5 and using upscaling is pretty much required. The areas in the game are linear and has world map like old jrpgs. This game has been categorized as an indie game despite having AAA level production value. It was one of the most awarded games at the game awards. It does not have as much polish as the games it takes inspiration from. I think recent jrpgs that have come out within the past few years like Metaphor Refantazio, Shin Megami Tensei V, Dragon Quest XI, Persona 3 reload, and the Trails in the Sky 1st remake are superior to this game despite not getting any awards. This game is basically The Last of US of RPGs. This is the "JRPG" for normies scared of anime

LMAO, there is a plot twist at the end of the game how everything that took place in a painting and non of what you did matters. The game lectures on why escapism is bad despite the game itself being an escapist form of media.

There is a battle theme in the game that sounds like the royalty free music you hear in youtube tutorials. link.

Here are some good reviews on this game: link1, link2
