Artix

Arch GNU/Linux but without Systemd. Artix offers openrc, runit, s6, and dinit. Arch repositories are disabled in Artix by default by can be enabled to install programs not in Artix repositories such as umu-launcher. This distro has the benefits of arch of having up to date packages (useful for gaming) and is rolling release but doesn't have the systemd cancer or is trying to censor people opposed to age verification. An Artix mainteiner said that Artix will never implement any type of age verification or identification. You can use the Arch User Repository to install programs not in the arch or artix repositories. Ronin now uses Artix with dinit (he switched from runit due to dinit having dependency handling and easier syntax to enable and start services. Dinit is faster than both runit and systemd on startup and shutdown. See this and is recommended to any advanced or diy type of people. Before switching to Artix, Ronin previously used CachyOS.

For gaming on artix make sure to do this

Step 1: Enable arch repositories

You can optionally also add the cachyos repositories and/or chaotic aur Step 2: Increase system limits in limits.conf

Step 3: Load ntsync kernel module

Step 4: Download an aur helper like paru or yay. If you have the cachyos or chaotic aur repositories enabled either type

sudo pacman -S paru

or

sudo pacman -S yay

Step 5: Install protonplus with your aur helper

paru protonplus

or if you have cachyos or chaotic repositories enabled

sudo pacman -S protonplus

Now there should be no issues. If the limits in limit.conf are at the default values and ntsync is enabled in proton and in your kernel, then some games may crash at launch or at some point while playing
